This unique art-related mirror is hand-made in beechwood, painted by hand, with an outer frame in custom-stained oak with corner pieces.
The top section features three postcards framed behind museum grade glass of a portrait, c.1490, attributed to the workshop of Domenico Ghirlandaio (1448 - 1494). The postcards are a mirror image of the original portrait painting, which is in the collection of the National Gallery, London.
The six coloured panels on either side of the portrait are also museum grade glass, in this case hand painted. This glass has an anti-reflective coating plus a UV filter to help preserve both the cards and the paint from light damage.
The paint colours used are chosen from the range by Farrow & Ball: Incarndine was used to make a feature of the frame rebate and edges, while Mahogany and Off-Black were utilised for the facing strips. The glass panels are in Cinder Rose, Breakfast Room Green, India Yellow, Vardo, Drawing Room Blue and Pelt. The mirror itself is 4mm thick silver float glass.
An easy-to-use hanging system allows the mirror to be hung flush to the wall. This beautiful one-off mirror is stamped by Possible Mirror, the maker, and is signed and dated on the reverse. Please contact us for more details.
