In the late 1990s Chris Gollon was innovating painting through his interest in artistic boundary crossing, and his experimentation in the use of fine artist's acrylic paints, which dry much quicker than oil allowing him to be as prolific as he could. In this period critics and certain people in the art world were saying "painting is dead". To survive Gollon would paint more affordable smaller works; still life or heads. These became popular among his following of collectors. This work comes to us from the Paul O'Grady Estate.
