CHRIS GOLLON: Beyond the Horizon

Special Collector's Edition of only 100, with a specially recorded 'Gimme Some Wine' EP by Eleanor McEvoy inside, only 100 signed and numbered by her, produced only for the exhibition, and with four of her songs. It features a very special acoustic version of her song ‘Gimme Some Wine’, which was inspired by Gollon’s painting ‘Dreaming of Leaving’, which in turn was inspired by the song Eleanor co-wrote with Lloyd Cole. She wrote ‘Gimme Some Wine’ in response to Chris’s work and dedicated the song to him. He in turn was then inspired by it to paint the 2017 ‘Gimme Some Wine’ series of paintings, the last of which (reproduced on the CD) is in both the exhibition and catalogue. The other 3 tracks ‘Heaven Help Us’, ‘The Thought of You’ and ‘Look Like Me’ are from her album NAKED MUSIC, which was also a collaboration with Chris Gollon.

The 44-page full-colour exhibition catalogue, published to accompany the museum retrospective of Chris Gollon’s music-related works CHRIS GOLLON: Beyond the Horizon at Huddersfield Art Gallery 12th Oct 2019 to 18th Jan 2020, and now online. Foreword by exhibition curator David Tregunna outlining the three major ways Chris Gollon used music to make his original imagery. The catalogue also has texts from those who enjoyed artistic collaborations with Chris Gollon, including Thurston Moore, Yi Yao and Eleanor McEvoy. All works in the exhibition are reproduced inside, along with texts by author Nick Soulsby, art critic Laura Gascoigne and art historian Tamsin Pickeral.
