This mirror was inspired by the Surrealist sculpture Object, Paris.1936. The sculpture, now in the collection of MOMA New York, is by the Swiss artist and photographer Méret Oppenheim (1913 – 1985). It consists of a teacup, saucer and teaspoon which the artist covered with short haired fur. The idea came to her following a conversation at a Paris café with Pablo Picasso and Dora Maar.
This mirror has an ornate box frame, constructed in solid poplar wood. It is hand finished and painted in Pavilion Gray from Farrow & Ball. The frame interior has been lined with brown faux fur and the glass is anti-reflective with a UV protective coating.
This mirror is unique and can be wall mounted flush using the integral split batten on the top. The frame is stamped and signed on the reverse.
