This painting is part of Chris Gollon’s LOVE Series (2011-2012), painted just after his second Residency at Durham University.

During the second sojourn, he was able to choose his own subject matter, and he chose to look at the many forms of human love from unrequited to parental love, love between siblings, romantic love, envy, lost love, and the love that is friendship, or the loss of that love when, as in this painting, we experience the pain of a friendship in peril.
