This painting comes from a series Chris Gollon painted in 2012, when Liquitex started to supply him fine artist spray paints free of charge, since they were very taken with his techniques using their range of fine art acrylic paints.
Gollon had also read an article in The Guardian describing attempts in Berlin to resurrect the tradition of the burlesque cabaret, as remembered in the film ‘Cabaret’. However, it was quite difficult in our modern times to shock anyone anymore. Chris Gollon’s figure is making one such attempt.
